Greetings from Apache Junction Arizona!
It has been another action packed week. We had a great service last Wednesday night in Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. Rick Oller is pastor of Sonrise Assembly of God. When he introduced us, he told the people, "I remember Larry and Gloria coming to our town in Pratt, Kansas, in 1967 or '68. I was just a little kid." Boy did that make us feel old! He continued, "They brought their old blue and white bus over to our house so my dad could help them fix it. I remember there were bus parts all over the floor of the garage, and my dad wouldn't let me play in there. He warned me not to touch any of the parts." I think his dad was afraid he would run off with a bus part, and we'd never get out of town. That would scare me too! Ha!
Anyway, it was rewarding coming back to Arizona and seeing this little boy grow up, get married, have three wonderful children and is now doing a great job of pastoring. His mom and dad, Eldon and Maxine Oller, and Charles and Kathy Detwiler were there for the evening service. They commented how much they enjoyed us coming through Kansas back in the 60's and 70's. They remembered the auditorium being packed to capacity with hundreds making decisions for Christ. They looked at us, shook their heads, and said, "Wow, you've been on the road all these years, and you are still traveling, singing, and preaching...That's great." Eldon Oller piped up, "Larry, in 1968 you left a tool in my garage after working on the bus. When I saw you years later I brought it to give it back to you; you said keep it as a souvenir. I was so happy as it is a special keepsake. The tool reminds me of the great fellowship we had while working on your bus. We love having a part in helping to keep you 'on the road'."
These forty years later, friends are still helping us stay on the road. In fact, right now Larry has a man from a church helping him get our big iron monster (the coach) tuned up for the next 1300 mile trip. A couple minutes ago, Larry put a big steel A-frame ladder by the front door and was going to go up to fix a broken vent. I freaked out and hollered out, "No, No, No! You are not going up on the top of the bus again-end of subject!" He tried to convince me otherwise, but I won! The coach is 16 years old so there is a lot of tinkering and fixing to always get done.
Last Sunday, we ministered in beautiful Fountain Hills, Arizona. Fountain Hills is another suburb of Phoenix. It was wonderful being back with our friends, Pastor David and Sharon Iverson, that we have known for years. It was like deja vu when he got up to introduce us. He said, "I remember when I was a young kid, you and Gloria came through the Midwest, and I still remember Larry's crazy jokes and antics." Wow that's scary!
We had a wonderful altar call with many making rededications and many prodigals coming back home. That is always a thrill-to see the tears and cheers at the altar.
It is so rewarding for Larry and I to return and minister with those pastors who grown up under our ministry. It gives us mixed feelings...and facts. The fact is we are growing older, but considering the alternative, that is a good thing. It is always an honor and privilege to have had a part in helping build lives.
This morning after Larry and I had our morning coffee date and devotions, he prayed, "Thank you Lord for allowing us 45 years to be out here on the road winning the lost." I readily agreed; it truly is a gift from God. A few minutes ago I was reminded of when I was just 8 years old. Our pastor had a poster on the door of the right side of the platform that read, "ONLY ONE LIFE WILL SOON BE PASSED, ONLY WHAT'S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST." That made a great impact on my young life. It always challenged me to seek God's will for my life. I sincerely want to live my life so that whatever I did, the results would last for eternity. I knew I was called to full time ministry...and I followed my calling and my dream. Like everyone else, life has its challenges, but Matt 19:26 says, "With God all things are possible." Larry and I can testify to that.
Is God challenging you to do something, and you've kind of drug your feet or worried about it? Remember, with God all things are possible. Take the challenge...and do it! Someone else's spiritual destiny may depend on you.
Have a great week,
Gloria
Larry's photo pick of the week...
A week ago, we took a couple hour drive up the mountain, and late that afternoon it snowed. Here's the picture Larry took of the snow on this cactus-You don't see this very often!
Chuckle for the Week
A traveling clergyman in a strange town asked a young man the way to the post office. When the obliging boy gave him the necessary directions, the pastor thanked him, he added, "you seem to be a bright young man, how would you like to listen to my sermon tonight so might show the way to heaven." "You are going to show me the way to heaven?" Boy asked, "Why you don't even know the way to the post office!"
Testimonies
Larry and Gloria,
You have been such a blessing to us. We've known you for over 10 years now, and we love being monthly partners with you. You have touched so many lives. We read every one of your newsletters, emails, and On the Road web postings! We enjoy them all. We pray for you daily, and through your newsletters and updates, we have laughed with you and cried with you. God has been faithful to you. It was wonderful having you two back in Sierra Vista again. The service was great, and we rejoiced for all those who made commitments to Christ. Please come back soon!

Quote of the Week
You can accomplish more in one hour with God, than one lifetime without Him.
